The 9 Principles &12 Values

If you're like me, you are sick and tired of the crap going on in Washington DC right now. Democrat or Republican - it doesn't matter. They all took an oath of office to defend the Constitution, yet they trample on it every day it seems. I heard President Obama say in a speech the other day that he taught the Constitution for ten years, and now that he is in office, he will defend it. I'm sorry, but Mr. President, you're record speaks for itself. You, and your colleagues on Capitol Hill - most Republicans included - are doing quite the opposite.

Corporate Bailouts, stimulus packages full of pork and pet projects, foreign aid that never goes to "aid" anything but the size of politicians' pockets... when will it end? When will "We The People" stand up and say "ENOUGH!"?

I turn on the news, and see nothing but bad things happening in this world of ours. I see this great Country being led down a path that most of us would rather not follow, if it weren't for us being proud Americans. Everyday, I drive down the road and see nothing but hatred for fellow man. We are at a turning point, and for some, a breaking point.

It is time for action. It is time for us to stand up and defend the principles that this Nation was founded on. Principles that our founding fathers believed in vehemently. We have a voice, and it needs to be heard. Contact your Senators and Representatives. Let them know exactly how you feel. Get involved in your local community. Write your thoughts down on paper and go door-to-door passing them out. Remind those elected officials that they work for US, not the other way around.

We The People can do this. We can save our Country. We can be great again.

I was watching the Glenn Beck program tonight, and he has a movement called "The 9.12 Project". Basically, it has nine principles, and twelve core values that we can all live by. You may not agree with all of them... I don't always agree with Glenn Beck, but this is something I can get behind. Anyway, here they are:

The Nine Principles

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

12 Values

* Honesty
* Reverence
* Hope
* Thrift
* Humility
* Charity
* Sincerity
* Moderation
* Hard Work
* Courage
* Personal Responsibility
* Gratitude

I hope that what I've said here will flip a switch with someone reading it, and that they will become as impassioned as I have as of late. I don't see this as being "political" as much as being patriotic. I don't want to leave a mess for my children and their children to live with.
